Omega 'A' defeated Speg 'B' 36-17 in the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA)/Western Union 'B' League at the Leila Robinson Courts on Saturday.

In the day's other games, Ocho Rios Magic beat Red Challenge 31-21 and Bridgeport got by Hampshire 'B' 32-27.

The first quarter between Omega 'A' and Speg 'B' was keenly contested with the latter leading 9-7 at the end of the period.

However, Omega 'A' stepped up their offense in the second quarter which saw them out-scoring their opponents by 11 goals to six for a 20-13 lead at half-time.

Omega 'A' dominated the possession in third quarter and forced Speg 'B' to make a number of crucial turnovers, which resulted in them extended their lead to 30-14 at the end of the period.

Christine Marshall led the way for Omega 'A' with 34 goals and received good support form teammate Ann-Marie Ennis, even though she scored only two goals.

Chantoy Gordon was the top shooter for Speg with nine goals, and she received good support from Monique Espeut, who netted six goals.

Sylvester Campbell, coach of Omega 'A', was pleased with his team's performance.

"It was a good game," said Campbell. We needed a victory to stay in the competition because we drew one game and lost another so this victory was very important to us.

"I am very satisfied with the team's performance. I think we played well in all departments," added Campbell.

Lilieth Lynch-Myers, coach of Speg 'B', said: "This is not really a disappointment. It is just the fact that the team wasn't training together so we didn'thave the cohesiveness and most persons are not used to playing together," said Lynch-Myers.
