Harbour View turned in a championship performance with an impressive 5-0 thumping of Seba United to virtually seal the Wray and Nephew National Premier League (NPL) title at the Harbour View Mini Stadium yesterday.

Harbour View, hunting their second NPL title and first since 2000, opened up a mammoth 10-point lead after their nearest challenger Portmore United dropped two valuable points in a 2-2 draw with Wadadah.

A double strike by Kavin Bryan in the 64th and 89th minutes, complemented by goals from Kemeel Wolfe (9th), Christopher Harvey (30th) and Fabian Taylor (68th), pushed Harbour View to 64 points with four rounds remaining.

Great performance

Harbour View, boasting at least seven national players, turned in a scintillating performance for their 19th win of the season from 29 games.

The Stars of the East, which blew a 13-point lead last season to finish second, will be officially crowned champion with a win over last-placed Naggo Head on Wednesday.

Coach Lenworth Hyde Sr. still remains calm after his team's impressive display and won't celebrate until their next win deep down he feels like a champion.

Said Hyde: "Deep down I feel that way and also the players. We just want to keep them focused. We want to deal with it officially when the 'Fat Lady sings'. We have a game on Wednesday and if we win that one I am sure. I don't want to celebrate yet."

Seba United suffered their 16th and worst defeat of the season to remain only nine points ahead of the relegation zone.

The St. James-based Seba remain in 10th position on 29 points and should be safe for another year in the top flight.

Seba's Peruvian coach, Danilo Barriga, said his team played with four under-21 players because of injuries and was optimistic for next season.
