And the father is ...
published: Monday | April 16, 2007

Larry Birkhead holds up his hands as a sign of victory after a DNA test found that he is the biological father of Anna Nicole Smith' s daughter, Dannielynn, in Nassau, Bahamas, April 10.

After months of speculation and a court battle, the verdict is finally in. The father of Anna Nicole Smith's daughter, Dannielynn, is photographer Larry Birkhead. Birkhead wasin a custody battle with Smith's lawyer and partner Howard K. Stern and two other men trying to prove they fathered the former Playboy model's child. Her daughter's Bahamian birth certificate listed Howard Stern as the father. However, the ruling does not decide who gets custody of Dannielynn. That is to be determined at another hearing.

Anna Nicole Smith, 39, died after an accidental overdose of sleeping pills in a Florida hotel in February.

Smith lived in The Bahamas for the last few months of her life and was buried there beside her son Daniel, who died a few days after Dannielynn was born.

Dannielynn could inherit millions if her mother's estate wins a legal battle over the heir of Smith's former husband, Texas oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall.
