Howard Walker, Staff ReporterPolice National, Meadhaven and Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) are all within striking distance for championship honours as the penultimate round of the KSAFA Super League continues today.
First-place Police National are away to ninth-place Mountain View, second-place Meadhaven host sixth-place Santos at Maverley Complex, while third-place JDF play fourth-place Cavalier at the Spring Complex.
In the other games, Greenwich Town versus Maverley/Hughenden at Tinson Pen, Duhaney Park welcome Constant Spring and Bull Bay play the relegated Barbican at Bull Pen.
Of the top three teams, leaders Police National on 43 points seem to have the easiest task against Mountain View on paper but in reality it may turn out to be the hardest as they are up against a relegation battler.
On the other hand, both Meadhaven and the JDF play teams that cannot win the title or get relegated and should not be motivated enough to hamper their victory charge.
Police National have seen a nine-point lead whittle away and with two rounds remaining, only lead by one point over Meadhaven with the JDF a further two behind on 40 points.
While it is intriguing at the top, the relegation battlers have everything to play for with Barbican on 12 already demoted, four teams remain in the danger zone.
Eighth-place Constant Spring, ninth place Mountain View and 10th-place Maverley/Hughenden are all on 19 points with second-from-bottom Greenwich Town on 17.
The real fight should be the Maverley/Greenwich Town game as a win for Greenwich Town would see them leapfrog their opponents to safer ground.
Any other result and Greenwich Town could be doomed.
