BVI imposes visa regime on Jamaicans
published: Saturday | March 31, 2007

The Government of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) has advised that Jamaican passport holders will require a visa to visit that country as of tomorrow, April 1. Visa applications should be made to the British High Commission.

"Applying the principle of reciprocity, the Government of Jamaica will, at a date to be announced, require nationals of the British Virgin Islands to acquire a visa to visit Jamaica," said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade in a statement yesterday.

The BVI joins a growing list of countries requiring Jamaicans to have a visa before being allowed entry. This follows the United Kingdom and Cayman Islands in recent years.

The BVI, like the Cayman Islands, are British territories.
