Kgn YMCA mourns death of J'can soldier in Iraq
published: Saturday | March 24, 2007

The Kingston YMCA said yesterday it was saddened to hear of the death of Stephen Richardson, a Jamaican member of the United States Army, who died tragically while on duty in Iraq.

"'Itchy', as he was affectionately called at the Kingston YMCA, was a counsellor in our summer camps," the YMCA said. "He was loved by the campers, counsellors and all who knew him. We mourn the loss of this wonderful and vibrant individual who was of superb character."

The YMCA said its prayers were with Richardson's family.

Richardson, who had been living in the United States since 1999, died leaving behind one child and a baby on the way. He would have turned 23 this year.
