SAJ seeking operations manager

The Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ) has existed since 1939 to manage and provide highly trained labour to its members and the shipping industry while ensuring the economic and social development of all stakeholders and Jamaica at large.

The services we provide are growing and changing and we are looking for someone who is able to adapt and grow with the changes.

We seek to employ a suitably qualified individual for the position of operations manager, Recruiting Centre.

To be successful in this challenging role, you will need:

1. To be a natural leader who has a good track record.

2. Ensure your staff adheres to good industrial relations and human relations practices and to perform at optimum levels.

3. Sound knowledge of Jamaican labour laws and practical experience of handling disciplinary and grievance issues.

4. Proven ability in strengthening relationships with trade unions.

5. Good communication skills to foster positive relationships with staff at all levels and members of the SAJ.

6. Ability to effectively analyse manpower needs and recommend necessary changes.

Requirements

A minimum of a first degree in management with a concentration in operations management.

Professional certification in human resource management is an asset.

A minimum of five years' working experience at the management level in a unionised environment.
