Wasting water in St Thomas
published: Tuesday | March 20, 2007

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Please allow me to call on the person/persons responsible for repairs of water lines that are broken in the Duckenfield area of eastern St. Thomas. There is a broken line on the other side of the road at the main gate at the "Ivan Scheme" housing development since the latter part of 2006.

The water is flowing as a small spring; even the councillor for the division made several reports on the matter; I am told by a reliable source "the pipe is made of metal", and the authority cannot find the tool to cut the pipe.

It is also astonishing to see the millions of gallons of treatment water going to waste daily in St. Thomas, east, west, north and south; and these are not half-inch bore pipes; I am talking about one-inch and upward.

This is a special wake-up call to the people at National Water Commission.

I am, etc.,

J.A. BAILEY

Dalvey P.O.

St. Thomas
