THE EDITOR, Sir:It's quite disappointing to read that Ms. Jamaica World Sara Lawrence's pregnancy is such a sad, gloomy thing. Get over it. Sara is pregnant, she has a life growing inside of her, perhaps the timing could have been better, but nonetheless, get over it. For people to say that she made an error in judgement and that this is causing her great anguish is ludicrous. Did you ever stop to think about how the child will feel a few years from now when he/she researches his/her mother online and discovers that the circumstances surrounding his/her birth were so poorly looked upon? I do not excuse Sara's timing, given the fact that obviously being pregnant as a reigning queen is against the rules. But why is this such a big deal?
How is this going to potentially 'ruin' the tradition of Miss Jamaica world? There are a lot more 'awful' things going on in Jamaica than Sara's pregnancy. How about the nurses who don't get paid enough? How about crime and drugs? Please, stay focused and don't judge someone so harshly.
I am, etc.,
