published: Wednesday | February 28, 2007

The Supreme Ventures Dancing Girls brought a special vibe to the show, 'backing it up' carnival style.

The 18th staging of Jamaica Carnival got under way last week with a launch held at the Acropolis Gaming Suite.

Julianne Lee-Samuels, director of the event announced some of the plans for the event, which will be bereft of its climactic road march this year.

Some of the plans included:

Linstead Carnival, which will be staged at the Dinthill Technical on Sunday, March 24.

The reintroduction of Easter Monday Soca on the Waterfront.

The second staging of Mobay Carnival, Nite Mas Road Parade.

The first Jamaica Carnival Kingston Jouvert Road Parade, in New Kingston on 'Friday 13th' - admission is free.

And, the extremely popular Jouvert moves from Chukka Cove to Richmond Estate, St Ann.
