Jamaica Stock Exchange awards ceremony for Wednesday

The annual Jamaica Stock Exchange Best Practices Awards will be held Wednesday at the Hilton Kingston.

The winners were selected after 10 months of work by a committee comprising executive director of the Mona School of Business, Professor Neville Ying, as chair, attorney-at-law Christopher Bovell, company director, Alvaro Casserly, Vindell Kerr, financial analyst and magazine publisher John Jackson, central bank economist, Audrey Richards, UWI lecturer, Dr. Noel Reynolds, and president of the Jamaica Computer Society, Errol Anderson.

Judge listed companies

The awards, which were initiated last year, judge listed companies on corporate disclosure and investor relations; website, and financial performance.

Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica Limited, led by William Clarke, and conglomerate GraceKennedy Limited, headed by Douglas Orane, tied as overall winners.

The JSE said in a statement that this year, it would introduce the Governor-General's Award for Excellence which will be presented to the overall winner of the awards. Governor-General Professor Kenneth Hall is to be the guest speaker.
