Dhaka, Bangladesh (AHN):
President Dr. Iajuddin Ahmed says that Bangladesh is keen to strengthen ties with Jamaica through economic relations and more people-to-people contact. The president made this announcement as the newly-appointed High Commissioner of Jamaica, Wayne McCook, presented his credentials while visiting president's residence, Bangabhaban, earlier this week.
Welcoming the High Commissioner, based in Beijing, President Dr. Iajudin congratulated him on his new obligation in Bangladesh and hoped that he would be able to make significant contributions towards taking the relations between the two countries to a new height.
"Bangladesh and Jamaica enjoy close bonds of friendship and understanding based on their shared values of democracy, respect for human rights and commitment to world peace," he said.
