Skip the mall this season, stay within the comfort of your home and complete your Christmas gift shopping. Jamaica now has its own home shopping network with the launch of Caribworld Home Shopping television show.

Caribworld which began airing Thursday on Television Jamaica (TVJ) at 8:30 a.m., allows customers to purchase 'high quality' merchandise from the convenience and comfort of their home.

At the official launch of Caribworld at TVJ studios, on Tuesday, the pioneers of the home shopping show were ecstatic about its inception in Jamaica.

Caribworld's flamboyant host, Dawn Lisa Smith, said the show is an outlet for those elusive items. "The place to get that extra special item you can't get anywhere else."

Founder and director of Caribworld, John Payne, said that the merchandise offered on the show is not sold at stores within the Caribbean.

Wide cross-section of items

The wide cross-section of items offered, ranges from lingerie and jewellery to electronics and home gadgets. Mr. Payne noted that the prices will be as competitive as walking into a store and purchasing a similar item.

Caribworld has been airing in Barbados since 2004 and was last year launched in Trinidad and Tobago. The show has revolutionised shopping in the Caribbean isles. It is anticipated that the show will garner similar status in Jamaica, said Miss Smith.

"People love shopping with Caribworld," she said.

The programme will be aired three times daily on TVJ. The half-hour programme will broadcast at 8:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday; Saturday 9:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

How it Works

If you see an item you like on Caribworld, simply call the number on the screen, place your order and wait seven to 10 days for delivery. Payment for items bought, may be made by credit, debit card, or cash at Bill Express agencies. Items are delivered to the customer's home or the nearest Airpak Express location.

Caribworld also offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. If a customer is not satisfied with his or her purchase the item may be returned within 30 days for a cash refund.
