Urgent help needed
published: Monday | September 11, 2006

The Editor, Sir:

I am a resident of Fort George District, south eastern St. Mary. Driving along the Junction main road from Tom's River to Georgia, one is in danger of damaging his/her face, eyes in particular, as guinea grass and trees are very high and thick and reach through the windows of motor vehicles. Motorists have to be extremely careful not to become involved in an accident.

Worse still are the National Works Agency roads between Annotto Bay and the new Fort George Bridge; and with the heavy rain it is totally unbearable. The over 5,000 residents of Fort George, Cumsee, Baxters Mountain, Pleasant Hill, Camberwell and Long road all use the road. Member of Parliament Harry Douglas took us on a delegation to see Minister Robert Pickersgill three months ago. MP Douglas insisted that PNP members should not block roads on its government. While some agree, we cannot hold out much longer, because we have been suffering for quite a long time now.

Minister Pickersgill, please have mercy on us and repair the roads now.

I am, etc.,

PERCIVAL HENDERSON
