Region Six gets new director
published: Monday | September 11, 2006

Elgin Taylor, Gleaner Writer

LLUIDAS VALE, St. Catherine:

Errol Levy is the new director of the Ministry of Education and Youth, Region Six, based in Old Harbour, St. Catherine.

He replaces Dr. Fitz Russell, who has assumed responsi-bility as the acting chief education officer in charge of the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit at the Education Ministry's Heroes Circle head office.

Mr. Levy was previously the director of the Education Ministry's Region One.

Region Six, which comprises the parishes of Clarendon and St. Catherine has a total of 224 schools from the primary to the tertiary level and is said to be one of the fastest growing regions in terms of population.

As a result, there was a challenge earlier this year to find additional high school places for Grade Six Achievement Test (G-SAT) award recipients.

Minister of Education and Youth, Maxine Henry-Wilson, had said this contributed to the delay in the publication of the GSAT results.
