TOP TEN BACHELORS
published: Monday | September 11, 2006

( L - R ) Moodie jr. and Wehmeyer

( L - R ) Lalah and Chen

( L - R ) Smith and Borstad

Flair's men's issue of August 28, featuring 30 of Jamaica's most eligible bachelors has certainly created a buzz. From the talk-show circuit to after-dinner conversation, readers can't seem to get enough.

We listened to you and threw out the challenge for you to select your choice of top 10 from the 30. Thanks for your overwhelming response and here is what you had to say.

And, in answer to your request, watch out for our issue featuring 30 of the most eligible Jamaican women.

Good day to you all at Flair. I must begin by saying great job. For the past week, you have been responsible for generating some of the most interesting lunch-time conversations regarding these men. We are pleased to see young, ambitious men making strides at a time when they have come under serious backlash from our society.

Things like this need to be done more often. I can hardly wait for the upcoming lunch-time conversation containing, I anticipate, Jamaica's top 30 eligible women. Keep up the good work!

Flair's publication on some of the 30 most eligible made a very entertaining read.

I think though that too many of the men were in their 20s. There are a lot of us women who are single and in our 30s, hoping to find an interesting single mate to go out with.

Anyway, I particularly liked Basil Smith. The fact that he is a corporate guru, but more interestingly, he loves to read and enjoys his music ... what more could a woman like me ask for? I would love to get to know more about him.

Keep up the good work Flair and I am looking forward to more interesting and entertaining reads in the weeks ahead.

Here are my top 10 picks in random order: Peter Moodie J.R., Kevin Bourke, Knut Borstad, Clay Moodie, Winston McKane, Charles E. Chen, Delano Forbes, Bobby Chen, Courtney Walsh, Tariq Nembhard.

I choose theses 10 men because their ideal woman seems to be realistic and and not over the top. It is not always that you are able to see men of all races and classes represented and I have seen that in all 30 men. Don't get me wrong, every hoe have them stick a bush and they are just stating what they are looking for and for the lady who says that she she can't vie for any of these 30 men's attention and affection, you should not have to try. Learn to be yourself and not mould yourself into what they want, because in the end that's not who you are and it won't last.

I thoroughly enjoyed your list of Top 30 bachelors in Jamaica.

I live in Canada and met Bobby Chen in passing a few years ago while on vacation. I found him to be nice, charming and down to earth. His eyes are beautiful, he smells great and he is incredibly sexy. I was pleasantly surprised to see him on the list; he is a great catch. I can see that he would make a woman very happy. To be honest, I would like to meet him again.

OK Flair team. Seems to me that you are not going to do a new list of men that us regular ladies can get to meet, so let me not be a spoil sport. Below is my list. I did try meeting one of the eligibles once before this list was done (not going to say which one - he is on my list though). He was not interested in wanting to meet me. Well, anyway, here goes:

1. Mark Shields: Very Nice, too bad he is British

2. Adam Stewart: Gorgeous

3. Peter Moodie Jr.: Cuteee as a button

4. Basil Smith : HOTTTTTT for an older man (well, I like them older)

5. Knut Borstad: mama mia!

6. Robert Lalah: Very handsome young man

7. Parris Lyew-Ayee : Needs to slow down!

8. Kevin Bourke: could use some grooming, but still nice

9. Tariq Nembhard: like your lines

10. Clay Moodie and Darryl Wehmeyer.

OTHER RESPONSES

I am curious to know why the beautiful, ambitious and sometimes wealthy bachelors in rural Jamaica have been neglected in your selection of the 30 most eligible. There are nice guys from St. Elizabeth and Manchester.

Eligible bachelorette section in the flair

Dear Sir, Madam:

I really enjoyed the article about the eligible bachelors and enjoy reading Flair. I would love to see an eligible bachelorette section celebrating us single successful women. I often hang out with my single fabulous friends. We have degrees, cars, great jobs and are also hoping to find the ideal one at some point. I think it would be fun to put our credentials out there. After all, men are supposed to go after women!

More top ten bachelors

David Manley, son of the late Prime Minister Michael Manley and broadcaster/talk-show host and author in embryo, Beverly Anderson-Manley. - Contributed

For those who are asking, David Manley, son of the late Prime Minister Michael Manley and broadcaster/Gleaner columnist, Beverley Anderson-Manley, he is fine and we mean FINE! Just look at the photo. Next to Asafa Powell, he's this writer's pick of most eligible, simply because he's such a gentleman.

When he was merely 17, this firsthand. At a wedding ceremony at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church a few years ago, this tall gorgeous lad leapt to our aid as we almost fell upon exiting the car. Not only did he break our fall, he took his pristine white handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the scuffed toe of our stilletoes! As they say, it's all in the gene pool; no wonder the ladies loved his pappa so!

More about David and the other eligibles in our second edition next year.

The younger bachelors

I'm 22 years, two months and 21 days (but hey, who's counting). My top 10 is a bit prejudiced towards the younger bachelors and as for "Single in Portmore", I'd like to say: "life's too short to take everything so seriously."

So here goes my top ten, in no particular order, except for number one.

1. Robert Lalah - he's a good writer and I have a tremendous respect for good writers and I like his eyes.

2. Steven Golding - I think it's cute that he wants to have a pet lion.

3. Damian Marley - I want to shampoo his locks.

4. Jeffrey "Assasin" Campbell - love his body.

5. Peter Moodie Jnr.

6. Delano Forbes.

7. Parris Lyew-Ayee - Although I think he might be a bit too busy for me to handle.

8. Christopher Blythe.

9. Tariq Nembhard.

10. Jeremy Chen.

Keep up the good work Flair and do a lot more fun articles. We live in a country that is riddled with problems, even though the people are great and the place is beautiful. Sometimes we just need to get away from it all, even if it is only for a few minutes reading an article.

My picks

Steven Golding

Tariq Nembhard

Ramon Arscott

Adam Stewart

Jordan Samuda

Christopher Blythe

Deane Shepherd

Bobby Chen

Jeremy Chen

Knut Borastad

Joy Kelly
