Accountants charged with Northern Caribbean University (NCU) theft
published: Monday | September 11, 2006

Two accountants employed to the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) have been arrested and charged with fleecing the institution of more than $5 million.

According to Sergeant Ravon Salmon, Constabulary Communi-cation Network (CCN) liaison officer for Manchester, the men were taken into police custody on Friday.

They are Ian Blythe of a Cedar Gardens address and Rohan Daley from Cedar Grove, both in Manchester.

Sgt. Salmon says both men have been charged with larceny as a servant for allegedly stealing $5.4 million from NCU.

Arrested on campus

"A report was made by one of the (university) vice-presidents ... The police were called in and the men were arrested on the campus," Sgt. Salmon told The Gleaner.

They are being held in a Man-chester police lock-up and are expected to appear in the Mandeville Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

The university yesterday placed a newspaper advertisment to the effect that Blythe and Daley were no longer employed to the institution, and were therefore not entitled to conduct any business on its behalf.
