Mayor of Kingston, Desmond McKenzie, says he will be pressing for the establishment of a bi-partisan committee of the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC) to discuss the capital's readiness for World Cup Cricket 2007.

The Mayor made the announcement yesterday while addressing the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Area Council One meeting at the Meadowbrook High School in St. Andrew.

Concerned about city's readiness

He said he would be approaching Dean Peart, the Minister of Local Government, Community Development and Environment, regarding the establishment of the committee.

According to the Mayor McKenzie, he is concerned about the readiness of the city for international event, which he claimed has been ignored by the Government. He said that the Committee would comprise of both JLP and People's National Party councillors.
