Classes resume at the University of Technology (UTech)
published: Thursday | September 7, 2006

Classes resumed at the University of Technology (UTech) yesterday after a one-day strike on Tuesday by more than 400 lecturers employed to the institution.

On Tuesday, Finance Minister Dr. Omar Davies informed the lecturers that he would meet with them to discuss the pay dispute, only if they called off the strike.

Strike called off

The lecturers called off the strike after a meeting yesterday morning.

The disgruntled educators took strike action on Tuesday to push the Government for retroactive pay they said was owed to them since 2002. They said they plan to meet again today to further discuss the issue.
