Five-A-Side knockout
The second round of the Tank-Weld/Business House Five-A-Side Knockout football competition continues tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Wackenhut take on Peak Bottling, Gibson/Spectrum Insurance tackle Heart Trust, National Water Commission battle Tyre World, Tank-Weld Metals await Jamaica Broilers, Sun Island aim at Life of Jamaica and Agriventures Group challenge IGL on Monday.
On Tuesday, B-H Paints await Jamaica Fibreglass, Bank of Nova Scotia take on Mother's Enterprise and Country Farmhouse Soy battle Western Sports.
In Wednesday's action, Alkali Group take on National Housing Development Corporation, Smith & Stewart Distribution await Purity, Jamaica Infrastructure Operators tackle KFC and Appliance Traders oppose Modern Windows & Roofs.
Results from last week's games: Jamaica Broilers thrashed Health Corporation 12-2, B-H Paints whipped Deryck Gibson/Spectrum 6-1, Blue Cross hammered Ranger Security 5-2, First Caribbean Bank beat NACO Caribbean 4-2, Mega Mart edged Hilton Kingston 2-1, Appliance Traders defeated Jamaica Infrastructure Operators 4-0 and RBTT stopped Bank of Nova Scotia 3-1.
St Ann Bauxite victorious
St. Ann Bauxite clipped hosts Alpart 3-2 at the Alpart Sports Club in Nain, St Elizabeth, last week as the Inter-Bauxite men's table tennis league continued.
Winners for St. Ann Bauxite were Wavel Williams, who beat Oliver Miller 3-1 in the first match, Oral Brown, who trounced Lloyd Coke 3-0 in the third match to move the score from 1-1 to 2-1, and Richard Thomas, who outplayed Dain Coke 3-1 in the fifth match, which took the score from 2-2 to the 3-2 triumph for St. Ann Bauxite.
Alpart's two consolation victories were provided by Dervon Parchment, who stunned Andrew Lawrence 3-1, and Ernest Allen who outlasted former Alpart player Kary Neale, 3-2, in match number four.
The final match of the preliminary rounds will be played next Tuesday when St. Ann Bauxite will host defending champions Windalco at Kaiser Sports Club.
The final will be played at Alpart on September 9 between the top two teams at the end of the preliminary rounds.
St. Ann Bauxite lead the standings with nine points followed by Windalco, seven points, and Alpart, four. Men's and women's singles and events for employees' children will also be played on September 9.
Inter-Bank football
The 2006 Norman Goodison Inter-Bank football competition will kick off today with an opening ceremony and dress parade at the Mona playing field.
Action gets under way at 10:00 a.m. with a one-day rally.
Eleven teams have registered to take part in this year's tournament: COK, First Global, Blue Cross of Jamaica, Capital & Credit, Financial Services Commission, BNS, NCB, BOJ, JNBS, FCIB and RBTT.
NCB are the defending one-day rally champions and will be aiming to retain the Banker's Association trophy.
