THE YOUNG Reggae Boyz crashed 0-6 to hosts Colombia and bowed out of the 20th Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Cartegena last night in embarrassing fashion.

Jamaica, whose Under-21 team defeated Haiti 2-1 in their opening group game before losing to Costa Rica 1-2, was dumped out of the Games at the quarter-final stage.

The Jamaicans trailed 0-2 at half-time after conceding goals at the 35th and 40th minutes.

Things went further into decline for the Caribbean side in the second half as they let in twice the number of goals conceded in the first stanza.

BRIGHTER NOTE

On a brighter note for Jamaica, featherweight boxer Nicholas Walters turned in an impressive performance to defeat Pedro Solistizol of Guatemala 17-4 to advance to tomorrow's semi-final in the 57kg division.

On what was generally a quiet day at the CAC Games for Jamaica, the medal tally remained at 10.

Up to press time last night the women's hockey team were in action against the Dominican Republic.

Star teenage swimmer Alia Atkinson has so far captured five medals, inclusive of four gold medals in Jamaica's tally of six gold.

GOLD RUSH

She mined gold in the 50 metres breaststroke in a Games record of 32.64 in the 100 breaststroke, the 50-metre butterfly and 200 individual medley. She also captured silver in the 200-metre breaststroke.

Jamaica have been having a good run, gaining three medals in the cycling events striking two gold and a silver.

Iona Wynter and Oneil Samuels both captured individual gold while Richard Lynch got silver.

Jamaica also gained three medals in squash as the doubles team of Karen Anderson and Marlene Rabess won silver.

Anderson picked up her second medal, this time capturing bronze in her individual event.
