'Chavez better for Jamaica than Uncle Sam'
published: Wednesday | June 28, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

JAMAICA LIKE other third world countries is not self-sustaining, or independent. Their governments and opposition should be on their own for their people and country.

Bruce Golding, like his mentor Edward Seaga, has proven time and time again, to be a puppet of Uncle Sam. The United States of America has always helped in times of need, but always at a cost, so Uncle Sam has no friends, but it is very strategic for Uncle Sam. If Bruce Golding had his way, our JDF forces wouldn't be mopping up Iraq and Jamaica's sole independence on the IMF and World Bank, would keep us in poverty.

But here comes Chavez with that olive branch as never before to remove the stranglehold that Uncle Sam has on us, and Mr. Golding would rather see us sink instead of float, all in the name of the great U.S. of A. That won't improve your ratings or put you in the driver's seat.

PEARL OF THE CARIBBEAN

Chavez, like Castro, is the Pearl of the Caribbean. They have uprooted the capitalist system of the ruling class and replaced it with a system of rule by the people, for the people and equal opportunity for all, regardless of colour or creed. That is what Jamaica needs, complete opposite to the dictates of Uncle Sam, via Bruce Golding and the Jamaica Labour Party.

Jamaica needs a Castro, or Chavez, to discourage laziness, handouts, put people to work, eliminate crime and violence, educate all and not the chosen few who can afford it because of wealth, and give Jamaica back to Jamaicans. Chavez, if given an open hand, will do those and more for the Caribbean basin and Jamaica than Uncle Sam; but puppets like Bruce Golding can't see that the open hands of Uncle Sam will only be a stranglehold on our progress, depleting us of everything and leaving us like Haiti, poor, desolate and barren, destitute and needy.

I am, etc.,
