GUESTS CONVERGED at Half Moon's Royal Pavilion in Montego Bay on Wednesday night for the welcome reception of the third Caribbean Conference on Dispute Resolution.
The function was also used to launch the latest work by Ghanaian professor, Albert Fiadjoe, Alternative Dispute Resolution: A Developing World Perspective.
Professor Fiadjoe, who is currently lecturing at the law school in Barbados, told the small gathering that the work of Donna Parchment, executive director of the Dispute Resolution Foundation (DRF) was the inspiration behind his book.
"The philosophy behind this book is to tell the story of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) from a Caribbean perspective," he said. "I tried to capture the realities of the Caribbean and introduce ADR in the context of the criminal justice system."
Members of the region and international judiciary system, mediators and members of the Montego Bay community, attended the reception, which was a precursor for the four-day conference.
