Mandeville:
ST. ELIZABETH, after ekeing out a three-run first innings advantage, defeated Melbourne by five wickets at Alpart Sports Club in St. Elizabeth, yesterday.
Scores Melbourne 143 and 130; St. Elizabeth 146 and 128 for five.
Melbourne's batting fared worse in the second innings despite a 40-run first wicket partnership between Ray Stewart and Damion Jacobs (22). It was a forgettable match for their top batsmen Donovan Pagon who made just one and Marlon Samuels who followed up his first innings duck with just 16. Pagon scored 20 in the first innings.
Fast bowler Conroy Miller (eight wickets overall in the match) bowled unchange for 14 overs to record five for 56, while there were two wickets each for Ainsley Goss and Damion Ebanks.
Goss, who took four wickets in the first innings, was also instrumental in the run chase, coming in as a pinch-hitter to strike 38 when St. Elizabeth were pegged back at 65 for four. Ishmael Parchment made 21 not out.
