Thank you, JPS, NWA
published: Monday | April 24, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

SEVERAL MONTHS ago, our organisation took up the challenge of making sure the traffic lights were turned on in Spanish Town. Getting nowhere with the St. Catherine Parish Council, I called the JPS and the NWA and expressed our concerns.

I am sure both the JPS and the NWA were occasionally agitated with my weekly calls, but somehow I know they understood. They were patient with me, as they explained that although I saw lights installed, they had to do work underground, so I had to be patient. I was.

I was very grateful to see the lights on this week. It has made a big difference in the traffic flow in Spanish Town, both at the Sligoville entrance and the Barrett Street and Burke Road areas. The roads on that street now seem 'magnificent'.

Spanish Town holds a bright future - good things are happening here - we need not worry.

The power of one is important. Each citizen must play a part. We must take back Spanish Town. We are taking it back one day at a time.

I wish to thank the Jamaica Public Service - Mr. Hodges, Mr. Davis, in particular for hearing my voice, and of course to the NWA for their always responsive ear. Thank you very much Mr. Stephen Shaw.

I am, etc.,
