Cut the politics on Cricket World Cup
published: Monday | April 24, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

OUR POLITICIANS continue to play too much negative politics or are they themselves hopelessly ignorant on the subject matter they consistently attack.

The country should be united to reap the benefits of Cricket World Cup. The policy makers, marketers, entrepreneurs and so on should apply their creativity on how to exploit the world-famous Brand Jamaica.

Let us remember that when we hosted the Commonwealth Games in 1966, we got a national stadium out of it, despite no immediate financial gains. Have we benefited from the national stadium, and, has this venue played an important role in the development of our athletes?

Cut the politics, and let us creatively milk this event for all its worth, in terms of showcasing our country and earning potential in the present and the future.

I am, etc.,
