Canadian visa fees increased
published: Wednesday | March 29, 2006

THE CANADIAN High Commis-sion yesterday said that as of Monday, April 3, the Jamaican dollar visa fees will be increased for all services provided by its immigration section.

The new fees are J$4,350 for single entry, J$8,700 for multiple entry visa applications, and J$23,200.00 for a family of three or more. Canadian dollar fee, which must be an exact amount, remain unchanged. Processing fees are non-refundable.

According to the High Commission, the modification in the fee schedule is due to exchange rate changes.

Temporary resident (visitor) visa applicants are reminded that the the processing fee should be paid at any branch of Scotiabank, and only Jamaican or Canadian currency will be accepted. The bank will issue a receipt upon payment of the processing and transaction fees. This receipt will be valid for presentation at the High Commission for six months from the date of issue. Visa applicants are required to submit the fee receipt, application form and supporting documentation to the Immigration Section of the Canadian high Commission.

Other changes

A transit visa is required for travel through Canada to another country by those persons who require a temporary resident visa, and whose flight will stop in Canada for less than 48 hours. There is no processing fee for a transit visa.

The public is reminded that the Temporary Resident Visa Section of the Canadian High Commission is closed on Fridays.
