Gayle ... does not worry Bermuda coach Gus Logie. -FILEJAMAICA HAVE been drawn to play Bermuda in their first match of the Stanford Twenty/20 cricket tournament on July 21 in Antigua.
The Jamaica/Bermuda match will be the feature of the afternoon's two encounters and is set to bowl off at 7:00 p.m., while Guyana take on Montserrat at 3:00 p.m. All the games are schedule for the Sticky Wicket Ground in Antigua.
Bermuda's coach, Gus Logie, expressed satisfaction at the draw with Jamaica.
"It's an interesting draw I am not unhappy with it," said Logie.
Logie was also asked if he was fearful of Jamaica's explosive 26-year-old left-hander Chris Gayle, scorer of more than 50 centuries in various forms of the game.
"It is not about fearing others, it is about ourselves. This match isn't about Chris Gayle, it isn't about other individuals, it is about us preparing the way we should, bowling the right line, fielding well and batting well," Logie was quoted by Bermuda Royal Gazette as saying.
The winner of the Ja-maica/Bermuda match will play the following Friday, July 28, against the winner of Guyana and Montserrat encounter.
KNOCKOUT COMPETITION
The Stanford Twenty/20 Tournament will be a single elimination knockout competition where the winning team will receive US$1 million and the second-place finisher will receive US$500,000.
The cricket boards of the top two teams will receive US$200,000 and US$100,000 respectively, which must be used toward the development and improvement of the cricket facilities in those countries.
In addition, the selected 'Man of the Match' in each game will receive US$25,000 and the 'Man of the Match' in the final game will receive US$100,000.
