HAMBURGER SV became the first team to beat Bayern Munich in their new stadium when Nigel de Jong scored a late goal in a 2-1 win over the Bundesliga leaders yesterday.
Hamburg's victory brought some suspense back into the title chase, although Bayern still lead by eight points. Bayern have 58 points, while Bremen and Hamburg each have 50.
De Jong's 89th-minute goal came six minutes after Mehmet Scholl had brought Bayern level following a 16th-minute strike by Guy Demel.
Bayern's two losses of the season have both come against Hamburg, who won 2-0 at home in the first half of the season.
Bayern left the Olympic Stadium and moved to the new Allianz Arena at the start of the season, winning 11 straight Bundesliga games there. The stadium will stage the opening match between Germany and Costa Rica of the June 9-July 9 World Cup .
Werder Bremen drew 1-1 at Bayer Leverkusen to retain second place on goal difference.
Elsewhere, last-placed Cologne won 4-2 at Hertha Berlin on two goals by Lukas Podolski, Schalke won 2-1 in Hannover, Dortmund played a 1-1 draw against struggling Mainz and Nuremberg beat Duisburg 3-0 on a hat-trick from Robert Vittek.
