Portia the midwife
published: Sunday | March 5, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

PLEASE ALLOW me to send congratulations to Portia Simpson Miller.

Reflecting on the past election for the leadership of the PNP, comments from some members of the Peter Phillips' 'Solid as a Rock' campaign, and others in regards to the qualification of Mrs. Simpson Miller, lead me to this thought.

Jamaica is pregnant with potential and opportunity and although there are so many doctors in the Government we continue to have 'miscarriages' and 'still births' of our country's dreams and aspirations. It is time, therefore, to bring in the 'midwife' and maybe, just maybe we will start giving birth to our dreams and aspirations through hard work, discipline, dedication and commitment.

Kwame Nkhruma said "Judge me not from the height that I have attained but from the depth from which I came". So bring in the midwife with her team of doctors so that the delivery can commence.

I am, etc.,

ARTHUR 'TEDDY' PHIDD
