Jamaica College defeat many-time champs Wolmer's

MANY-TIME urban schoolboy cricket champions Wolmer's yesterday suffered their fourth defeat in this year's Grace Shield Premier League.

In their fifth match this season, Wolmer's, playing away to Jamaica College (JC), went down by 22 runs to the hosts.

Batting first, JC, led by Geoffrey Laing, 35, Geoffrey Reid, 34, and Gavin Jackson, 30, scored 144 against Nicholas Dussand (4-15), Theodore Marshall (2-20) and Mario Downer (2-37).

In reply, Wolmer's could only muster 122. National Under-15 player Jon-Ross Campbell top scored with 49.

Marshall, batting at No. 11, chipped in with 27 not out while Peter Mitchell made 26. Elvis Watson (3-21), Lushane South (2-6), Mark Robinson (2-35) and Laing (2-38) took most of the wickets.

Elsewhere, Kingston College (KC), Penwood and St. Catherine secured victories over Bridgeport, St. George's College and Waterford respectively.

At Bridgeport Sports Club, KC defeated Bridgeport by nine wickets. Bridgeport made 81 with Andre Dewar taking 4-25.

KC replied with 81 for one, thanks to Christie Jones' 44.

Penwood defeated St. George's College by four wickets. St. George's first made 92. Keadore Brown claimed 4-25. Penwood replied with 93 for six with Kemar Foster getting 40.

At Waterford High School, St. Catherine defeated the hosts by 12 runs.

St. Catherine made 170 with Rohan Franklyn getting 39 while Marlon Hoillett took 6-60. Waterford replied with 158 with Marlon Morrison getting 44 against Rasheed Outar 5-38 and Jermaine Grant 4-20.
