Decision out of our hands
published: Wednesday | February 8, 2006

THE EDITOR, Sir:

ALL PARTIES outside of the People's National Party should put a freeze on the extravagant spending which accompanies the campaign for presidency of the party. Nothing can change the fact that it is only the party delegates who will decide the issue. That the winner might become Prime Minister is irrelevant, because this selection is the exclusive business of the members of the House of Representatives, and most of those concerned have already made up their minds. Regardless of how the public judges the candidates, the decision will be entirely out of our hands. So why this waste of time, money and effort? Far better to reserve these for the next general election when voter education and public opinion count.

I am, etc.,

KEN JONES
