Rockfort murder probe - Two bodies found in burnt-out car
published: Wednesday | February 8, 2006

DETECTIVES FROM the Kingston Eastern Police Division are investigating the deaths of two men whose burnt bodies were found in the trunk of a torched car at Heslop Avenue in Rockfort yesterday.

The men have been identified by the police as Damion McKain of Condor Avenue in Caymanas Gardens, St. Catherine, and Garnett Green, also known as 'Silk', of Seaview Gardens.

The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) reported yesterday that Heslop Avenue residents said they saw a Honda Accord (licence number 8203 EF) motor car on fire at 12:15 a.m. The blaze was eventually extinguished by a unit from the Rollington Town Fire Department. McKain and Green's bodies were subsequently recovered from the trunk of the car.

OTHER HOMICIDES

Two other killings, which occurred on Monday, are also being probed by the police. The first incident, which involved a policeman, took place at 4:00 p.m.

It is alleged that 29-year-old Robert Hewitt of Cassia Park Road was shot after he attacked the policeman with a knife at the intersection of Molynes and Waltham Park roads.

According to the CCN, the policeman confronted Hewitt, whom he saw stabbing another man. Hewitt was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) where he was pronounced dead. The Bureau of Special Investigation is probing the incident.

Just over three hours after that killing, 20-year-old Anthony Mullings' bullet-riddled body was discovered at Denver Crescent in Kingston 20. Residents there reported hearing gunshots, and the police, after their arrival, found Mullings still alive. He succumbed to his injuries at the KPH.
