MEMBERS OF the 110-year-old North Street Seventh-day Adventist Church and teachers from the 109-year-old New Hope Preparatory School are claiming divine intervention after their property survived a devilish attack by arsonists.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that about 6:00 a.m. yesterday the perpetrator(s) firebombed the church, then attempted to set ablaze four cylinders located to the rear of the property, as well as douse the caretaker's quarters with flammable liquid before taking flight.
UNCOVERED
The plot was uncovered by Mark Burke, church caretaker, who alerted the police.
The Rev. Linton Williams, the pastor, is convinced that the unseen hand of God withstood the dastardly deed from causing major damage.
"No serious damage (has occurred). You see, the Lord intervened and put the fire out," said a convinced Pastor Williams. "Me can't explain it. This definitely is a miracle."
Pastor Williams told The Gleaner that he is contrive a reason behind the attack, adding that the congregation enjoys a healthy relationship with the community.
