Holy Family, Clan Carthy face off
published: Tuesday | January 31, 2006

DEFENDING champion Holy Family tackles Clan Carthy in the 2006 "CB" Chicken/ INSPORTS/Art & Fabric/ WATA sponsored Kingston and St. Andrew Primary Schools football final at the National Stadium, starting at 3:00 p.m.

Both teams reached the final when they won their respective semi-finals. Holy Family defeated end-of-round finalists St. Aloysius 4-1 while Clan Carthy clipped Mona 1-0.

Both Holy Family and Clan Carthy met earlier in the end-of-round quarter finals where Holy Family defeated Clan Carthy 4-2 penalties after playing to a 1-1 draw in normal and extra time.

Both camps are confident of victory, but based on their goalscoring feats Holy Family appear to have the edge.

All in all it should be an interesting final with Holy Family the odds on favourites.

Patrick Brown is Holy Family's leading scorer with 12 goals but they have many players who are capable of scoring like Tevin Jackson with seven goals, Jamal Banton five, and Kareem Manning with six goals.

Percival 'Heightsman' Cord-well, coach of Holy Family, said "as the defending champions we must give good account of ourselves".

"Our chances are as good as our opponents," he said.

Meanwhile Sergeant Norman McGibbon, coach of Clan Carthy, was also very confident.

"Holy Family are not strong as a few years ago. We have done our home work and we are confident coming into this match that we will come out victorious," he said.

Davion Montague the competition's leading scorer with 18 goals is Clan Carthy's trump card but Orain Dixon and Brian Pinnock with four goals each should also be a dangerous duo.

Meanwhile, the third and fourth place playoff will be played between St. Aloysius and Mona, starting at 1:00 p.m.
