Seaboard Marine offers weekly service to Montego Bay
published: Tuesday | January 31, 2006

SEABOARD MARINE, a leader in ocean transportation in the Americas and the Caribbean, provides at least six direct sailings to the port of Montego Bay on a monthly basis from the United States, Caribbean (including Kingston) and Europe.

Seaboard Marine is proud to be the only container carrier providing service to Montego Bay and western Jamaica for over two decades. The transport provider offers shipping from Kingston to Montego Bay as a cost-effective, quick and reliable alternative to inland transit by road. Vessels depart Kingston every Monday and every other Thursday.

Seaboard Jamaica further cemented its commitment to Montego Bay and its environs when it opened its bonded warehouse facility in 2004. The warehouse facility in Montego Bay includes state-of-the-art security features including 24-hour closed-circuit video surveillance.

Jamaica Customs personnel are based at the warehouse to facilitate the unloading and customs inspection of imported FCL and LCL cargo. Consolidation of export cargo at the bonded warehouse will commence in the near future.

MAJOR PROJECTS

Seaboard is involved in many of the major projects in western Jamaica. On January 17, the shipping line delivered to Montego Bay the stage equipment for the upcoming Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival. Also, in 2005, Seaboard Marine sponsored the launch of the Jamaican arm of Freestay Caribbean, a programme designed to convert cruise ship visitors into land-based vacationers. Seaboard Marine believes that a vibrant tourism product is one of the pillars for Jamaica's continued growth and development. Seaboard Marine is committed to Jamaica.
