Robbers elude cops after chase
published: Monday | January 23, 2006

Byron McDaniel, Gleaner Writer

WALDERSTON, Manchester:

SWIFT RESPONSE by the police in Manchester following the robbery of a service station at Chudleigh in the parish on Friday afternoon caused the thieves to abandon their motorcycle and flee into bushes on foot.

The Gleaner understands that about 4 o'clock in the afternoon, a lone gunman walked into the Texaco service station operated by Johnny Chin, brandished a pistol and robbed the attendant of a pouch containing the day's revenue.

The amount of money in the pouch was undetermined.

Immediately following the theft, a man on a red Honda motorcycle drove up, picked up the thief and the two rode off in the direction of Devon. Police from Christiana, Mile Gully and Mandeville responded to a telephone report of the incident and went in chase of the thieves.

This caused the thieves to abandon the motorcycle at Mile Gully, about 10 miles away.

The motorcycle is now in the possession of Cottage (Mile Gully) police. An investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend the thieves.
