THE EDITOR, Sir:
HAVING SEEN the letter in The Gleaner of Saturday January 21, by A. Francis titled, "Pilferers in the postal service" it has prompted me to write regarding my recent incident where the postal service (or lack of ) is concerned.
My mother mailed two identical-sized parcels from England - one for my son and one for my daughter for Christmas. Three weeks prior to Christmas my daughter's arrived. To this day, I am still waiting for my son's!
WALKING PARCEL
I have called my local area post office who have never received this parcel, suggesting that it was highly likely to have walked from the Central Sorting Office.
What is sad is that my mother gets a lot of joy from putting together packages for her grandchildren she hardly sees, and it is rather costly too for her to mail packages from England.
Maybe the Central Sorting Office needs to have a security check for workers going in and out of the workplace to stop this blatant stealing.
The only consolation is that some little boy thinks that Santa brought him a lovely book, shirt and English candy for Christmas this year - little does he really know it was really from a 'teefing' mother or father who have no integrity or values. Shame on you who ever you are!
I am, etc.,
