VILLAGE UNITED dropped two vital points at home yesterday as they played to a 2-2 draw with Wadadah in the Wray and Nephew National Premier League at Elleston Wakeland Centre.
The home team had to come from behind twice as the visitors Wadadah seemed intent on taking full points with Daniel Ricketts pulling the strings in midfield.
Jerrmaine Anderson gave Wadadah the lead in the fourth minute before Newton Sterling scored his first of two equalisers in the 20th minute. Rohan Reid sent Wadadah ahead once more in the 44th minute and Sterling scored his second in the 50th minute.
Wadadah coach Anthony 'Follies' Williams was happy with the point.
"I am satisfied with one point under the circumstances. A lot of chances created by Village were thwarted by the goalkeeper so the end result is good. If you look at it, Village got a couple goal scoring opportunities but failed to capitalise," Williams said.
"In the end I think to share a point is good and Village have been doing well, so to come here and get a point is good," he added.
Village United assistant coach Cassman Williams said his team did not play well consistently and that cost them the game.
"In the first half we started out purposefully, but against the run of play we conceded a goal and after started putting some effort in and scored an equaliser. After we scored we just laid back and allowed them back in the game. They scored again on us.
"We came out in the second half again a bit purposeful created a few chances, scored the equaliser and basically we just shut off again. Apparently, based on the performance, we did not want to win," a disappointed Cassman Williams said.
