GENTLES
ACTING POSTMASTER General, Michael Gentles, said recently that many persons who reside in the Kingston Metropolitan Region (KMR) have noticed that they get their mail well within the 'Day Plus Two' standard established for mail within that area.
The postal service intends to further advance mail operations to enable an islandwide 'Day Plus Two' standard ('day' being the day on which the item is posted).
SATISFACTORY MAIL DELIVERY
Mr. Gentles said: "Customer feedback reveals that most postal zones across the island have been experiencing satisfactory mail delivery. It is indeed rare when our customers take the time to make a positive statement in the news media. Thus the Letter to the Editor that was published in The Gleaner on Monday, January 2, was a timely morale booster and is sincerely appreciated.
"We thank the writer for the encouragement, and hope that other customers will also affirm such satisfactory experiences."
Acting Deputy Postmaster General, Glennamoe McNabb, who now has responsibility for maintaining quality control in the mail delivery system, is confident that current levels of mail efficiency will persist despite the usual surge in mail volume at Christmas time.
