Left: The pumpkin skirt has become popular since debutante Paris Hilton wore one of a similar design to an awards show.
Right: Crack-flashing pants. Say goodbye to the super-low pants that only the super skinny could pull off. The waists of the pants are getting higher, much to the delight of 'real' women worldwide.
2005 was a wonderful year for fashion.
Bold metallics, embellishments and boho-chic ruled the runways and sidewalks. Alas, 2005 has passed and some fads need to be retired. The excessive embellishment started out sparkly and cute, but by year-end, it became dazzling in a "deer in the headlights" sort of way - not flattering. Sequins, studs and gems found their way onto any and everything and eventually became gaudy. Fret not, the fashion gods have spoken, and they have decreed, away with over-embellishment! Likewise, the bohemenian craze which took flight in late 2004, headed for a crash by the end of 2005. Eventually, boho-chic did not seem so chic anymore. Nonetheless, don't throw out your long flowing skirts and oversized blouses, just put them away for now, because fashion never dies, it just goes into hibernation only to be revived by some ambitious designer.
