Portmore council inviting suggestions for naming roadway
published: Wednesday | June 15, 2005

Robert Lalah, Staff Reporter

IF YOU ever wanted to tell someone to go take a walk on Dead Man's Lane, or had the urge to tell your mother-in-law to take a flying leap off Battle-Axe Boulevard, now is your chance!

The Portmore Municipal Council is inviting suggestions for the naming of a major roadway in the community.

The stretch of road in question currently goes by the dreary moniker of 'I95'. You however, probably know it best as the highway from the stoplight at Mandela Highway to the stoplight at the Bank of Nova Scotia in the Portmore community.

Suggestions for names should be sent to the council no later than June 30.

If you're looking for a way to declare your undying affection for that special someone, you could just get a road named after him or her. However, exercise some restraint, especially if their names happen to be anything like Dan Druff or Ben Dover. In this case, stick to socks or perhaps a new neck tie.
