THE EDITOR, Sir:
THE COMMISSIONER of Police has given some damning information about what is happening within the ranks of the police force. If this is true, then the police force can no longer be considered of any relevance to Jamaican society. As such, they should be asked to resign en bloc and reapply if they desire to continue serving as police officers. This would pave the way for the proper restructuring and the creation of a proper police force which could serve the interest of the Jamaican people.
The public should have an input in their future employment. In the interim, a temporary peace-keeping force would be allowed to do police duties. This exercise could be done parish by parish.
The trust and confidence the public should have in the police will be difficult to restore. It is very difficult to bring them back but good will always conquer evil, said the Commissioner of Police.
The good that will conquer evil is to revamp the police force and create a respectable police force which, along with law-abiding citizens, will be able to conquer the monster of crime.
I am, etc.,
