Eyewitness reports are that the policeman was travelling in a motor car from Constant Spring Road. On reaching the intersection of Waterloo and West Kings House roads, two men on a motorbike rode up and fired several shots at the policeman.

The policeman reportedly exited the car and returned the fire. He then re-entered the car and continued shooting at the gunmen.

The Constabulary Communication Network confirmed that the policeman was attached to Protective Services. Two firearms were recoverd by the police.
