Girlz out to get even
published: Saturday | March 12, 2005

Paul-Andre Walker, Staff Reporter

JAMAICA'S UNDER-21 Sunshine Girlz will look to get on even terms in their three-Test friendly series against Australia today at the National Indoor Sports Centre at 6:00 p.m.

Jamaica have their backs against the wall after losing 48-41 in the first game on Thursday.

"We have noted our strengths and weaknesses and, therefore, we should be doing some corrective work," Jamaica's assistant coach, Joan Anderson-Hylton, said.

TOO MANY ERRORS

That corrective work will have to be of the highest order as the Jamaicans made too many errors against an Australian team that made very few.

"There were too many turn-overs, that's one of them and concentration was the other thing," admitted Anderson-Hylton when asked about the areas that needed to be improved.

Jamaica started out trying to work on decision-making and adapting to various situations over the last four internationals.

Tonight they will get ample opportunity to do that because Australian coach Michelle Wilkins, will not be fielding a similar team to the one that played immaculately in the opening game.

DIFFERENT LINE-UP

"We have decided to let the players play out the game and the next match there will be a completely different line of players and they'll have to learn to play out a tough game as well," explained Wilkins.

Jamaica will have to win the game tonight to stand a chance at taking the series.

The final game will be played tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at the same venue.
