THE ST. Elizabeth Football Association's 2004-2005 competition will get under way today with the launch of the knockout championship.
The competition will be sponsored this year by Bigga soft drinks and will titled the Bigga St. Elizabeth Knockout football competition.
In an interview with The Sunday Gleaner, president of the Football Association, Courtney Brown, said there has not been a set figure for the total sponsorship.
"The sponsors will be selling their products, Bigga soft drinks and Wata at all the matches and 100 per cent of sales will go towards the competition's purse," Brown said.
An opening ceremony and dress parade at St. Elizabeth Technical High School starting at 1:00 p.m. will mark the official start, followed by a double header at the same venue.
In the first game, former division one champions Tafari Lions will tackle Middle Quarters Police Youth Club at 1:30 p.m. and Leads United will oppose Foster Youths at 3:30 p.m.
Twenty-three teams are taking part in this year's competition which will run over six weeks. The first round will be played on a home and away basis and in the second round there will be one way play-offs. The champion will go on to represent the parish in the Jamaica National Building Society Federation Cup national knockout championship.
