THE WESTMORELAND Police Division in celebration of their 50th anniversary of police youth clubs in Jamaica is hosting a week of activities from October 17-23 under the theme 'Youth Empowerment for Future Development'.
The week of activities commenced on October 17 with a church service held at the Church of God in Jamaica, Great George's Street, Savanna-la-Mar at 10:00 a.m. The sermon was delivered by Sergeant Clinton Russell.
Other activities planned are: Tuesday, October 19, outreach activities -where club members visited the Savanna-la-Mar Infirmary at 10:00 a.m. where they presented inmates with food and clothing.
On Wednesday, October 20, work day where clubbites will work in the various communities carrying out cleaning-up projects. While the main parish project will be general repair, work is to be carried out at a clubbite's house in Grange Hill which was severely damaged by Hurricane Ivan.
On Friday, October 22 - there will be an Open Air/Pop and Variety Concert at Norman Square in front of the Savanna-la-Mar Courthouse commencing at 6:00 p.m. Items will be performed by clubbites and members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. The public is invited and admission is free.
The week will climax on Saturday, October 23 with a Fun Day/Sports Extravaganza to be held at the Mannings school grounds commencing at 12 noon. There will be competition between clubbites and police officers.
