Religion and science

THE EDITOR, Sir:
MR. VINCE Mareno in his letter with the title 'How absurd' said man created God. In return, I would like to ask him who created man? If we assume these two to be events then each event comes from a previous event. What was the event before man created God? Since by his argument man created God, then man is the superior.
If this is so, why then can't this superior fix the world? The difference between Mr. Mareno and Reverend Miller is that Reverend Al recognises his inferiority and therefore appeals to the superior.
Mr.Mareno went on to say that religion and science are two different schools of thought. I wonder if Mr.Mareno knows that before René Descartes' philosophical idea of "I think therefore I am", religion was regarded as the highest of the sciences. Martin Luther King once said, "There are no problems between science and religion, the problems are between simple-minded Christians and tough-minded scientists. Science is about knowledge which is power while religion is about wisdom which is control."
If Mr. Mareno can grasp the fact that the laws of nature explain everything except the source of events then the virgin birth would not be a problem.
I am, etc.,
