MY DEARS, it's birthday season for the fabulous and so celebrations there are a-plenty and how! Sweet-things, on Friday, political icon and iconoclast, Opposition Leader Edward Seaga, celebrated his birthday with a number of celebrations hosted by friends, political associates and admirers.
The real gungo, however, was the party at Morgan's Harbour later that night, so more anon!
Also celebrating another year on Friday was Finance Minister Dr. Omar Davies. The word is however, that the Honourable Minister decided on a quiet do with his family and friends.
Friday also belonged to former first son, Christopher Seaga, who shares the same birthday as his father and the fabulous Anna Chin of Jo-Jo's Market, over there on Waterloo Road.
A 'FAMILY DOUBLE'
On Wednesday, it was a family double in Runaway Bay, St Ann as Kevin Levee, the general manager of Hedonism III and his daughter, the lovely Spencer Levee celebrated the start of another year. The occasion was marked with a quiet family dinner, so wait for the celebrations to follow.
The powerhouse couple of Eric and Brigette Bell, from Elmhurst, Illinois, jetted into the island last week for a week long celebration, which culminated in the wee hours of last Sunday morning. Saturday night was Brigette's 40 something birthday and celebrate they did!
Sporting a blonde page-boy do and looking quite stunning, Brigette was definitely the belle of the ball. Among the many places which hosted her during the week were: the MunaSan Japanese Restaurant at the Hedonism III Resort; the always 'in' Cafè Aubergine, in Moneague; and the Je suis Content in the upscale resort community of Silver Sands near Duncans, Trelawny. Luvs, this was a fabulous monster of a celebration and then some!
Also jetting into the island last week were Alfred Morris and wife Paula Bergman, of Chicago. Paula is the American vice-president of the Munich-based Langenschidt Publishers (the world largest Publishers of Dictionaries). Both were here for a week-long stay, the highpoint of which was Thursday-night's celebration of Alfred's birthday, with a spectacular cross-island outing and dinner over there on the island's north coast.
ANOTHER CELEBRATION
Dears this too was, another celebration of the good life and then some!
The Thursday before, the prized address was the fabulously done up and laid out corporate boardroom at the 107 Old Hope Road group headquarters of the Guardsman Group of Companies. Here, the groups' PR/marketing and special projects director and style maven, the stunning Sheila Benjamin-Fernandez and group director George Overton, were celebrating their birthday. Celebrating too was the charmingly lovely Carol Charlton, director of Immigration and Naturalisation of the Ministry of National Security.
And so it was, that with three friends sharing the same birthday, they all decided to mark the occasion together. And so, cocktails and birthday cakes it was, as friends and associates gathered in the warmth of the sanctuary of the Boardroom, to toast the
celebrants.
AN INTIMATE AFFAIR
It proved one of those charmingly intimate affairs, no speeches, just a wonderful society of friends and well-wishers coming together in fellowship, over libations and some fatteningly delicious birthday cakes!
It was like that - a charmingly tight affair and then some!
Among those out sharing the occasion, included National Security Minister Dr. Peter Phillips and his very charming and elegantly stately wife Sandra Phillips. Junior Tourism Minister Dr. Wykeham McNeil, security conglomateur Kenny Benjamin, the lovely Valerie Juggan-Brown, who had two days earlier, marked her twentieth anniversary with the Guardsman Group with cocktails. Rupert Bent and wife, the sparklingly gorgeous Cindy Breakspeare and her fabulous daughter Leah Tavares-Finson (home on holidays from school in Canada). Rajiv Bakshi, the fab Fiona McNeil, Tarun and Catherine Handa, Vinay Walia, Janet Farrow, Claude Clements, the drop-dead-gorgeous Carol Pessoa, Robbie Epstein, Robert Haughton, the oh so svelte Sonja Sutherland, Major Ian Mills, Paulette McKenzie-Williams, Junior McGregor, miss hotness herself, the fabulous Audrey Miller, the always charming Miranda Ragbeir, Wayne Clarke, the lovely Jerene Jones, Peter Vanwhervin, Marjorie Gordon, Neil Robinson, Deon Robinson, Theodore Palmer, young Ashley Fernandez, and young master Jordan McNeil, plus a number of others.
Belated wishes also to Keith Collister, who celebrated his birthday the previous Friday and former model and regal beauty Renee Menzies-McCallum, whose birthday was also last Thursday. Champagne wishes all around!
