Housing for Mandeville

THE EDITOR, Sir:MANDEVILLE IS a great place for job opportunities for professionals in Jamaica. The crime rate is also relatively low. There are three alumina plants that provide most of the jobs for the scientists and engineers living in the area. The drawback is that most of these professionals are not from Manchester, St. Elizabeth or Clarendon. Hence, they have to pay rent. As young professionals I am sure they would prefer to be paying this sum of money (or a little more) towards owning a home.
The houses that are available for sale in Mandeville are averaging $6 million and this is a pie in the sky scenario for most of the professionals who have graduated within the last 10 years. I am putting out this challenge to any smart businessman or businesswoman out there that has the money to invest: If you could construct at least 200 of the housing solutions that are in Angels (Spanish Town) or Bogue (Montego Bay). I am sure they would be well patronised by the professionals who work in Manchester and its environs. This is one investment that can only be profitable.
If you are not interested in the investment then I am asking the Government to lend me the money to build the 200 homes and reclaim the funds over the mortgage period. Please look into this investment proposal it is as legitimate as they can get. It is being thrown out to any company or individual investor.
I am, etc.,
